Olive Tree Therapy Centre

Our passionate team of therapists is looking forward to welcoming you into our world of play! We would love to tell you more about us and our journey so far.

Clarette completed her undergraduate training in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Free State in 2017, where she grew to love the field of paediatric occupational therapy. After her studies, Clarette returned to Port Elizabeth in 2019 where she started working with children and established Olive Tree in 2020.
She is passionate about early intervention and working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders and sensory processing difficulties. She completed her postgraduate qualification in Ayres Sensory Integration as well as training in the use of the DIR Floortime approach and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale. Clarette loves meeting new little ones and their families and being a part of their journey.
She enjoys working with the child’s support team and finding creative ways to implement intervention in the child’s home and school environments. She likes to describe her job by saying: “Children learn and develop through play and therefore, we play in a scientific way- we need to keep the science in our minds, the activities in our pockets (and everywhere else!) and the fun in our heart.”

Sarah obtained her Occupational Therapy degree through the University of KwaZulu Natal. After completing her community service year, Sarah joined a private paediatric practice in Cape Town, where she developed a love for working with children. She later relocated to Port Elizabeth, where she co-founded Olive Tree Therapy Centre in 2020. Sarah has completed her postgraduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration through the South African Institute for Sensory Integration (SAISI) and loves helping children who present with sensory processing difficulties. Sarah is trained in using the DIR Floortime approach and is also qualified to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale, an assessment tool used to identify signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Sarah is passionate about working with children who have difficulty participating in their daily activities at home and at school, and has had much experience in working with children who have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is an advocate for early intervention and believes in working closely with parents, teachers and other professionals who form part of the child’s support team. Sarah is passionate about helping each child reach their full potential, with her motto at work being: ‘The goal of early childhood education is to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn’. – Maria Montessori.

Courtney obtained her Bachelor in Occupational Therapy through the University of Stellenbosch in 2018. She completed her community service year in the Eastern Cape and later joined private practice in 2020. While she has experience within various fields of occupational therapy, her passion lies deeply in working with children and their families.
Courtney has completed introductory training in infant Neurodevelopmental Techniques and is currently completing her qualification in Ayres Sensory Integration through the South African Institute for Sensory Integration (SAISI). She believes in following a team approach when it comes to supporting children and is devoted to helping little hands do big things through the work of occupational therapy.

Carien obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Free State in 2020. She completed her community service year at Mamello Clinic in Trompsburg in 2021, whereafter she joined Olive Tree Therapy Centre.

She loves assisting children in mastering the skills they need to learn, play, and socialize in a meaningful and fulfilling way. She believes in working with parents, teachers, and the multidisciplinary team when empowering children to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
Her motto in life and in therapy:
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin).
